Understanding the Application of Graphene Coatings in One Second
1. Application of Graphene Coatings in Flame Retardant Coatings
The secondary structure of graphene monomers is dispersed layer by layer in the paint film, forming a dense isolation layer that can play a role in fire prevention and flame retardancy. If resin is added to the coating, graphene can also crosslink with resin molecules, further enhancing the isolation effect and flame retardant effect. In addition, besides carbon dioxide and water, the products of graphene coating combustion will leave a continuous carbon layer in situ, thereby further improving the flame retardant effect. Therefore, graphene coatings also have good applications in flame retardant coatings.
2. Application of Graphene Coatings in the Field of High Thermal Conductivity and Heat Dissipation Coatings
Graphene has high thermal conductivity. Adding graphene to the coating can significantly improve its thermal conductivity. Therefore, graphene modification has become an important development direction for the heat dissipation of graphene coatings. In addition, graphene has a large specific surface area, and the paint film contains a certain amount of graphene, which can greatly increase the heat dissipation area of the paint film, help to dissipate heat on the surface and inside of the paint film, and make the internal and external temperatures tend to be consistent. Graphene coatings have excellent mechanical properties, corrosion resistance, and aging resistance, making them commonly used as heat dissipation coatings for many components in harsh environments.
3. Application of Graphene Coatings in High Strength Coatings
Graphene has strong adsorption capacity due to its high specific surface area. After adding graphene to the coating, a network structure is formed during the curing process of the paint film, greatly enhancing the adhesion between the paint film and the substrate, making the paint film more stable and stronger. The experimental results show that the addition of graphene coating greatly improves the impact resistance, friction resistance, thermal conductivity, weather resistance, and corrosion resistance of the coating.
